Mission

In response to the coming age of accreditation in tertiary education, most of universities around the world have been setting up formal organizations such as "center of teaching and learning" aimed at ensuring effective teaching and improving learning performance by emphasizing the importance of quality assurance to promote the school competence.

Such a trend drove the establishment of the Teaching and Learning Resources Center (TLRC) in Jen-TehSeniorCollege on September 2008. The mission of the Center is to complement the academic goal of the higher education by improving the teaching effectiveness and enhancing student learning ability through promoting a humanistic environment to integrate all the teaching and learning resources of the higher education.
Driven by the prospect of cultivating excellent campus culture, shaping high quality learning environment and enhancing life-long learning ability, TLRC continues to force to boost the projects, which includes the following items:

  1. Integration and Enhancement of Resources.
  2. Development of Faculty Teaching.
  3. Development of Student Learning through promoting a series of activities, services, advices and programs. Throughout this way, TLRC hopes to help accomplish progressively the medical-nursing college’s vision of achieving excellent educational goals.
  4. Promoting effective teaching via constant curriculum improvement.
  5. Developing learning ability via strengthening learning supports in a steady and step-by-step pace.

 

Objective

In order to pursue the mission of TLRC, we have been striving towards the following goals:

A. Promoting Effective Teaching strategies via Constant Curriculum Improvement
All faculties in TLRC are senior teachers attending to take all students with good care, supporting, guidance and assistance. Faculties possess profound knowledge and clinical experiences in teaching. Therefore, we hopes to help teachers to improve their teaching skills so that they can conduct high quality and innovative curriculum. Furthermore, we strives to achieve the college’s goal of excellent education through cultivating an excellent campus culture among faculties so that they can enjoy their roles of instructors.
To achieve the above goals, TLRC will endeavor toward the following objectives:

a. Achieving needs of the teaching requirements step by step through the promotion of integration, sharing and application of the teaching and learning resources.  

b. Providing the professional supports for developing teachers’ teaching knowledge and skills.

c. Encouraging exchanging and sharing of their teaching experiences.

d. Encouraging the innovative teaching techniques.

 

B. Developing Student Learning Ability via Strengthening Learning Supports
To accomplish the mission of cultivating talented students who are well trained both theoretically and practically in accordance with the current needs of the domestic and international society, the TLRC hopes to help students improve their learning ability through enhancing learning supports. Furthermore, TLRC aims to achieve the goal of nurturing talented students through building a high quality learning environment so that they are willing to learn more actively, and enjoy their learning with continuing professional development.

To achieve the aforementioned goal, the TLRC will endeavor toward the following objectives:

a. Achieving the needs of students' learning requirements step by step through the promotion of integration, sharing and application of the teaching and learning resources.

b. Providing supports for developing students' professional knowledge and clinical skills.

c. Enhancing learning supports and improving learning performance through creating a student centered learning environment.
d. Shaping the high quality learning atmosphere among learners, promoting their learning motivation.

 

Organization

A.     Division of Teacher Professional Development

The objective of the Teachers’ Professional Development Section is to develop teachers' teaching knowledge and skills to improve their teaching effectiveness through all teaching assistances offered to them with humanistic teaching resources.
This section's affairs include:
a. Setting up teaching-skill related programs to cultivate teachers' teaching knowledge and skills.
b. Holding teaching conferences, forming a series of keynote speeches.
c. Offering the teaching consultations.
d. Investigating strategies of innovative teaching and their applications.

e. Setting up information-technology-related programs to promote the eTeaching knowledge and skills.
f. Establishing a networked learning center with existing learning resources, providing services of on-line learning counseling,
online learning, and so on.
g. Establishing a networked teaching area with existing teaching resources, providing services of on line teaching consultations,
h. Offering consultation services to both teachers and students about educational technologies.
i. Investigating applications of educational technologies.
j. Building Teaching and Learning Databases.

B. Division of Student Learning Promotion

The objective of the Student Learning Promotion Section is developing students' learning ability in order to improve their learning performance through enhanced learning supports obtained with available learning resources in this university.
This section's affairs include:

a. Holding learning workshops, forming a series of learning related keynote speeches for students.

b. Setting up a practicable and humanistic learning support system, such as teaching assistant, curriculum assistant, informational technique assistant, online tutor, etc.

c. Offering different kinds of learning consultations.

d. Investigating strategies of effective learning and their applications.

e. Applying information-technology-related programs for students to promote the learning efforts.
f. Applying a networked learning area with existing learning resources, providing services of online learning counseling, online learning, and so on.
g. Offering consultation services to both teachers and students about educational technologies.
h. Analyzing Teaching and Learning Databases for all professional departments to modify their curriculums..
